Ebbing House have put away charming things.

Rough Magic sees them buried in the dirt in a snug, wooden suit. In A Bunch of Fauves, they’re bleeding from the face at the War Memorial. Poor Mouth sees them climbing a tree and keeping on climbing, out and up into the Stygian murk of space. Finally, the pulverising black hole of Putting the Brute In sees them unable to plant the seeds of evil, as the seeds have already bloomed into a rude crop.

Ebbing House are devils, come to do the devil’s work, only to find it’s already been done for us. So, they knock off early, down the pub.
